The Energy Report

A SPM Home Energy Audit is the first step in making your home more efficient. So why should you be concerned with reducing energy?

Saving Energy will also save you money, and make your life more comfortable and healthy. You can reduce your energy bills, improve the warmth of your home and reduce condensation.  The amount of money you save depends on the cost of your heating fuel, and electricity and fuel prices are set to rise significantly in the months ahead.

In The UK, around 30% of all carbon dioxide emissions released into the atmosphere come from energy used in our homes.  Energy efficiency measures can easily reduce this impact by a third, reducing annual emissions of carbon dioxide from each household by two tonnes.  The following charts show where this energy goes:
Average energy use in the home and Heat Loss from an average homeWe will approximate the energy use and CO2 emissions per square metre of floor area based on fuel costs for the heating, ventillation, hot water and lighting systems.  An overall rating will be given which can then be compared to the benchmark of the average energy efficiency rating for the housing stock in Northern Ireland.

The ratings provide a measure of the buildings overall energy efficiency and its environmental impact, calculated in accordance with a national methodology.  The average Energy Efficiency Rating for a dwelling in Northern Ireland is band D(rating 57).

Buildings that are more energy efficient use less energy, save money and help protect the environment.

Our Home Energy Audit Report will provide detailed recommendations on how you can reduce emissions and make significant savings.

  • We list and rate individual elements that have an impact on your homes energy and environmental performance.
  • A recommendations list is drawn up split into 3 categories: Lower Cost measures, Higher Cost Measures, and Further measures to achieve even higher standards.
  • Costs associated with the recommendations are given, alongside annual monetary savings.  Energy and environmental impact ratings are given alongside each of these recommendations, so you can see how they can have a real impact to your homes current rating.
